ARTIST -DIRECTOR - PSYCHOLOGist
David Stöhr studied psychology at the University of Vienna and directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. His production of »Lulu« was at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, at the Landestheater Niederösterreich in 2015 and was awarded with the Grand Prix as best production at the international theater festival iTSelF in Warsaw. His production »Glaube Liebe Hoffnung« by Ödön von Horváth was in Bern at the festival of german speaking acting schools in 2016. From 2016, he worked as assistant director at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Berlin. In collaboration with Thomas Ostermeier, he co-directed the production of »The history of violence« by Edouard Louis. Subsequently, in February 2019, he directed »März« at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz based on the novel by Heinar Kipphardt. This was followed by works at the Theater Magdeburg, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater and HMT Rostock. He also works on theater projects in psychosocial institutions. In Berlin he works on his own productions with a freelance ensemble. Most recently »T4. Ophelias Garten« was awarded a prize in the theater competition »andersartig.gedenken on stage« and nominated for the Friedrich Luft Preis 2023.
In addition to his artistic work as a director, he also works as a lecturer in the fields of theater and performing arts, most recently at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf and the HMT Rostock Academy of Music and Theater.
